PORTLAND, Or. - On November 20, 2024, The Standard became the title sponsor of the Portland Classic LPGA Tour tournament, which will be held August 14-17 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
With The Standard, supporting the Portland Classic through the title sponsorship, the tournament has expanded its activities and fan engagement opportunities.
“The partnership reflects The Standard’s deep commitment to supporting women’s sports and enhancing the legacy of the Portland Classic,” Amy Malagamba, vice president of Corporate Marketing at The Standard said. “As a company rooted in Portland since 1906, The Standard sees this sponsorship as a way to give back to the community and ensure the tournament remains a cherished part of the city’s culture.”
Now under the title sponsorship of The Standard through 2027, the tournament will once again welcome the world’s top women golfers to the Pacific Northwest. Since its founding in 1972, the Portland Classic has raised over $18 million for local charities.
The Portland Classic is the longest-running non major event on the LPGA tour.
The Sports Bra pop-up bar on hole #15 is a new addition to the event this year. Other highlights include the Les Schwab Tires Par 3 Girls Tournament, where LPGA pros mentor junior golfers.
“Yes, The Sports Bra pop-up bar on hole 15 is one of the new fan experiences this year, blending local Portland culture with the tournament atmosphere,” Malagamba said. “The Standard’s title sponsorship has also brought new energy and initiatives, including a continued focus on community engagement, leadership programming and enhanced fan experiences.”
There will be an interactive fan zones, giveaways, and the Umpqua Family Fun Zone for all ages. Special combo passes that include access to both the golf tournament and the Portland Thorns vs. Seattle Reign rivalry match.
The 2025 charitable beneficiary for the tournament is First Tee – Oregon, an organization that empowers youth to build character and resilience through junior golf programs that integrate life skills with the game of golf.
“The Standard’s multi-year commitment as title sponsor (through 2027) provides stability and momentum for the tournament’s growth,” Malagamba said. “Our evolving involvement — from sustainability sponsorship to volunteer sponsorship and now title sponsorship — demonstrates a deepening investment in the tournament. This support enables expanded programming and increased employee engagement, helping elevate the tournament’s impact both on and off the course.
“The Classic is more than a golf tournament — it’s a celebration of excellence, perseverance and community. We’re honored to support an event that not only showcases elite athletes but also uplifts our city and inspires future generations.”
