WOODBURN, Oregon - Drew Woolworth from Lake Oswego High School took home another individual OSAA 6A State Championship Tuesday at OGA Golf Course.

Woolworth defended his 2024 title, with another championship, this time finishing at 11-under, tying the state tournament record set by David Crowell of Crescent Valley in 1995.

Woolworth, a junior, used 7 birdies to shoot a 67 (5-under) on Monday and eight birdies on Tuesday to shoot a 66 (6-under) to win by eight strokes.

“It feels great to repeat what I did last year,” Woolworth said. “I felt like my game was solid coming into the tournament, and I felt like I played how I wanted to. For me, winning the state title means that all the hard work I put into golf during the season set me up for success at the state tournament.”

Lake Oswego High School boys golf team also won the OSAA 6A State Championship with a +33 tournament beating out Westview High School by three strokes (+36). Central Catholic High School took third with a +40.

It was Lake Oswego’s second title in the last three years. The Lakers’ win produced their 11th state title, breaking a tie with Jesuit and Medford for the most titles in state history.

“This year we had a great team and a great group of guys,” Woolworth said. “I always think it’s cooler winning with the team than just by yourself because you're celebrating everyone and not just one person. The team worked super hard this year, and it was clear that we all shared the same goal of winning state.”

Jennings Oelke of Tigard High School took second place with a 3-under tournament. Alex Yang of Westview High School took third with a +1 tournament.

Cade McVicker, a junior of West Linn High School, and Hudson O’Connell, a freshman from Sherwood High School tied for fourth place at +2.

Woolworth is committed to the University of Georgia, where he will attend in the fall of 2026. He plays a lot of various junior tournaments across the country to continue sharpening his game for perhaps an individual three-peat in 2026 and eventually the college ranks and beyond.

Woolworth took second in the Oregon Junior Amateur in 2024, the UHY Junior Open hosted by Beau Hossler, and the Nike Junior Invitational. He also took second at the Sacramento Junior Championship presented by Morton Golf Foundation in April of this year.

“This summer, I plan to travel all over the country playing in elite junior events against some of the best in the country to better my game while also playing some beautiful golf courses,” Woolworth said.
